I’ve been meaning to watch Twin Peaks for years now, but for one lame reason or another, I’ve never actually gotten around to it.
Luckily, Goldsmiths has the first season of Twin Peaks in their DVD collection and they give week-long checkout privileges to graduate students! I don’t have courses on Monday or Tuesday, so I spent about 6 hours today plowing through the pilot and episodes 1-7. I’m TOTALLY HOOKED. What an incredibly creepy, funny, and well-written programme. “I need to get my hands on Season 2,” I mused after the cliffhanger that is the end of episode 7.
Unfortunately, I promptly discovered that Season 2 STILL hasn’t been released on DVD. According to Wikipedia (no, I didn’t read any spoilers), “the second season is due to be released worldwide by Paramount. It has so far been postponed several times, from September 2004, to early 2005, to September 2005, to early 2006. Although no United States release date has been announced, a November 2, 2006 release date was set for Australia, but the date has been pushed back yet again, to May 2007.”
Hmm. Another example of an inept media company screwing themselves and their customers out of a great product. Well, while Paramount gets their act together, I’m firing up Xtorrent and doing some “worldwide releasing” of my own. Only 10 days left in the download, according to the torrent! Can’t wait. Can’t effing wait.
