According to NME, the Top Ten British albums of all time are as follows:

1. The Stone Roses ‘The Stone Roses’
2. The Smiths ‘The Queen Is Dead’
3. Oasis ‘Definitely Maybe’
4. Sex Pistols ‘Never Mind The Bollocks’
5. Arctic Monkeys ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’
6. Blur ‘Modern Life Is Rubbish’
7. Pulp ‘Different Class’
8. The Clash ‘London Calling’
9. The Beatles ‘Revolver’
10. The Libertines ‘Up The Bracket’

The Beatles only made it to NUMBER NINE on that list. Number nine? Number nine? Number nine? Number nine? Number nine? Number nine? Number nine? Number nine? Number nine? Number nine? Number nine? Number nine?

And Oasis at 3? THE ARCTIC MONKEYS at 5?

At this point, I am ashamed to be British.

At least the Rolling Stones didn’t make it.

You have to remember that these polls are votes by NME readers, not the consensus of the entire British public. All these top 10 polls are manipulated and steered by the magazine’s interests, and remember NME is about popular music, so no big surprise that popular bands of the moment are in the top 10 and the aging sounds of the Beatles rank lower.

On a side note, it is very British to be ashamed to be British, glad to see you are still in the fold.

What’s most disappointing to me is that these were voted on by the writers at NME. I agree that if there were a way to poll the British public, these results would be quite different. Honestly, Oasis at number 3 but no Radiohead presence at all? Weird.

Agreed, writers of NME is just bad. They must have a vested interest in bands like the the Arctic Monkeys. I retract 98% of my previous post. The writers!! Damn. I don’t even like Radiohead but I can see that they might beat Pulp (who I like marginally less).
